Weekly Update for Sunday, October 4, 2015

The Sarah Mission Circle meeting originally scheduled for Oct. 5 has been postponed to Oct. 12 at 1:00 PM in the Library. (Please disregard the previous bulletin and newsletter announcement for Oct. 5.)
Since October is Pastor Appreciation month, we are having a Pastor Appreciation dinner on Oct. 11 following the morning service. Please bring a side dish with enough to go around (see Becky Mitchell for more details).
The 11th Hour: Thursdays at 11:00 AM the church sanctuary will be open for one hour for prayer. The lights will be low and soft music will be playing. Scripture verses about prayer will be projected on the screens. No one will speak; there will be no program. You may come in and sit or kneel to pray at the altar, for a few minutes or the whole hour. When you are through, please slip out quietly if others are still praying.

There will be a short meeting after the morning service for those interested in the mission trip to Indian Creek Camp on Oct. 9-11. (See Shaye Place for more information.)
Deacons meeting: this Sunday at 4:00 pm.
Church Dinner: Oct. 11 following the morning service. Please bring a side dish with enough to go around.

Finance Committee meeting: this Sunday at 4:30 pm.
Operation Christmas Child is underway and is set up by the Welcome Center.

This Sunday: There will no evening service, AWANA, or Roots Youth Group so that families may gather for the Labor Day Holiday.
Church Work Day: Sept. 12, 9:00 am. Sign-up at Welcome Center for jobs that need to be done.

The Pregnancy Choices Center needs volunteers. Please see our bulletin boards for more details. Also, it’s time for the annual Baby Bottle Campaign. Take as many bottles as you wish (located in the east foyer), fill them with money and return them at the end of September. This helps fund important programs within the center.
Roosevelt Mission Food Pantry needs volunteers to help distribute food to needy families. Boxes are filled Thursday from 1:00-3:00 pm and given out Friday from 1:00-4:00 pm. They’re providing food for approximately 60 families a month. Without volunteers they may have to shut it down. Go to 77 Vincennes St. or call Jerry French at (812) 847-8110.

The Pregnancy Choices Center is in need of volunteers. Please see our bulletin boards for more details.
It’s time for the annual Pregnancy Choices Baby Bottle Campaign. Take as many bottles as you wish, fill them with money, and return them at the end of September. This helps fund important programs within the center.
Church Work Day: September 12, 9:00 am. There is a sign-up at the Welcome Center listing jobs that need to be done.

For anyone interested in the mission trip to Indian Creek Camp on Oct. 9-11, there will be a short meeting after church today in the JOY classroom. We need skilled and unskilled labor, cooks to provide meals, equipment and supplies. We want to help this camp continue to spread the Gospel of Christ!
Church dinner: Aug. 23 following the morning service (covered dishes, preferably with food inside, are welcome). Everyone is welcome!
Jennifer would like to remind everyone of the cost for AWANA: Book-$10.00, Shirt-$9.00, Weekly Dues-$.75 ($19.50 total) Total for one AWANA year-$38.50 per child. If anyone can help a child attend AWANA, it would be greatly appreciated.

Ice Cream Social: Aug. 15, 6:00 – 8:00 pm. There will be home made ice cream, desserts, and games. You won’t want to miss it!

A mission trip to Indian Creek Camp is being planned for Oct. 9-11 to replace a cabin roof, other maintenance projects, painting and clean-up. An informational meeting will be held soon.
