Next Sunday, April 23rd, Rev. Bobby Ludlow will be preaching in both our morning and evening services. Bobby is the author and director of the Bible Explorers catechism program for children that has been running on Wednesday evenings. A love offering for Bobby and his family will be collected that Sunday as well. Simply mark “Bobby Ludlow” on your envelope or in the memo line of your check.

Special OCC offering: 4/30 at the Welcome Center the morning service.

There will be a short Compassion International presentation, “Let Us Love in Actions with Truth” on Compassion Sunday, April 30, 2023. This is an opportunity for church members to sponsor a child in poverty. Sponsorships provide the child with Christ centered physical, emotional, and spiritual care through churches in their communities.

This Good Friday, April 7th at 7:30 PM we will hold a Tenebrae Service (Service of Shadows) here in the church sanctuary. The service will begin at 7:30 PM. The Lord’s Table will be observed during this service.

This Easter Sunday, April 9th, we will have a Sunrise Service at 6:30 AM. There will be breakfast afterwards in the Fellowship Hall. Sunday School will be at 9:00 AM and Morning Worship at 10:00 AM as usual. There will not be a Treehouse Children’s Church, and there will be no evening service on Easter Sunday.

The tornado in Sullivan left Madison and Noah Phegley and their baby girl Mylee without their house, possessions, or vehicles. If you’d like to donate to help them, mark your envelope or check “Madison’s Family” and we will see that it all gets to them.

This is also the last Sunday for the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American missions. Envelopes for this offering are available on the Welcome Center.

This Wednesday, April 12th, Bible Explorers for the children will begin at 6:15 pm in the Fellowship Hall. The Adult Bible Study/Prayer Time will resume in the Library at 6:30 pm.

This Palm Sunday, the Treehouse Children’s Church will be held. After the morning service there will be an Easter Egg hunt for the children. The Lord’s Supper has been moved to Good Friday.

Also, after the morning worship service there will be a special called business meeting. This meeting is for the sole purpose of amending the church budget in order to include line items for an associate pastor’s compensation package, and to increase funds available for children’s ministry.

There will be a Deacons’ meeting in the BYKOTA classroom after the service this Sunday.

The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering is the primary way Southern Baptists fund missions in North America. 100% of the gifts given go to support more than 2,400 missionary families serving across the United States and Canada. This offering is used to help plant new churches, fund compassion ministries, and spread the gospel here in North America. Envelopes are available on the Welcome Center.

Palm Sunday is April 2nd. The Treehouse Children’s Church will be held that morning after the children help us remember Jesus’ triumphal Entry into Jerusalem. After the morning service there will be an Easter Egg hunt for the children. The observance of the Lord’s Supper will be moved to Good Friday.

On Wednesday, April 5th, there will not be an adult Bible Study/Prayer Time. Bible Explorers for the children will be held at 6:15 pm as usual that evening.

We need 8 people for the Scripture Readings (ideally 4 men and 4 women). A sign-up sheet for the Scripture Readings is on the Welcome Center.

This Sunday is “Gideon Sunday”. Mr. David Long will give a short presentation on the work of the Gideons in our morning worship service. At the close of the service, a traditional “open Bible” offering will be taken. 100% of this offering will go to the purchase of new Gideon bibles.

The Adult Bible Study and Prayer time will move from the Sanctuary to the Library this week. Bible study begins at 6:30 PM.

Re: background checks for children’s workers-The bad news is Child Protective Services told us if your approval is over a year old, you should complete a form again. The good news is they have revised the forms, and they’re much shorter now. The new forms are available at the Welcome Center. Every volunteer will need to complete the new form and return it to the church office.

Due to the city working on the water lines, there is silt in the water. It is probably best to refrain from drinking the water this Sunday.

There will be an Official Board Meeting this Sunday at 4:30 pm.

The church office will be closed Monday for Presidents Day.

On Wednesday, February 22, from 6:15-7:30 pm, we will kick off Bible Explorers, a discipleship program for kids up through 6th grade. There will be a meeting for volunteers today after the morning service.

For any new children’s workers, there is paperwork at the Welcome Center to complete and return to Tricia Herndon.
