This Sunday is our Fifth Sunday for Operation Christmas Child (Shoebox) postage giving. Each box takes $9.00 postage. Information is set up by the Welcome Center. See Tammy Hart if you have any questions.

Following the morning service, the Christian Education Board will have a 30-45 minute meeting in the JOY classroom to do a rundown of the Block parties. We will also have a time of prayer. Everyone is welcome.

“Beach Bash” block parties: July 13, 20, and 27, 6:00-8:00 pm. If you’re interested in donating or helping in any way, please contact the C.E. board. There are also sign-up sheets at the Welcome Center.

Volunteers are needed for the After School program: one day per week from 3:20-5 pm, to help with homework and activities. Please contact Kim Collins.

Our teen group is looking for summer service projects. If you need yard work, window washing, or anything they can do for you, contact the church office.

Weekly Update for Sunday, June 23, 2019

This year’s Beach Bash Block Parties are coming July 13th, 20th and 27th from 6:00-8:00 pm.

We are having a meeting for all volunteers (food, set-up, centers, group leaders, registration, music, – everyone) on Sunday, July 30th after church. Anna Jackson promises to keep us no longer than 30-45 minutes. Meet in the JOY classroom.

In the bulletins this Sunday, you’ll find flyers to share with your neighbor, friend or family. There are more on the welcome center. The yard signs are ready for you to take and place in your yard. Please sign the sheet if you take one.

We will need 12 dozen cookies each week. The sign-up sheet (on Welcome Center) has 6 spaces per week, 2 dozen cookies per volunteer.

We still need the following: 2 pop-up tents (10×10 or 15×15), 2 plastic wading pools, Photo Booth stuff (Big sun glasses, hats, Hawaiian flowery shirts, flippers, snorkel, large surf board shorts – silly beachy stuff). There is a donation box on the Welcome Center for food and door prizes.

We will start setting up at 3:00 on July 13th and need all the help we can get.

We thank everyone who is willing to help and encourage and PRAY! Please continue to pray for this outreach into our community to spread the Gospel.

Weekly Update for Sunday, June 16, 2019

There will be no evening service this Sunday evening so that families may spend time together for Father’s Day.

For security purposes, we need a third person to work with the married couples who work with the children’s programs. There is a sign-up sheet at the Welcome Center for those who are able to do so.

It’s a Keeper!

I admit that I own several guitars. Some people don’t understand this. I have guitar-playing friends whose wives tell them, “You can only play one at a time!” But they don’t understand that each guitar has its own sound and feel, and they are like different tools in your tool box. I suggest that they respond to their wives in kind: “Honey, why do you have so many pairs of shoes? You can only wear one pair at a time!” So far none of them has taken my advice.

My wife has always been incredibly understanding about my guitars. When we met in high school, my guitar playing was one of the things that attracted her to me. (A guy needs all the help he can get.) My wife is a musician, too, and she loves music as much as I do. And besides, she says it keeps me off the streets.
